  • You want help to keep your home the way you like it
  • You'd like company and support while you shop or do errands

What is help around the home?

Help around the home is practical support to keep your home clean, safe and comfortable. It covers the jobs your disability makes hard, tiring or unsafe to do on your own.

Some people want us to do the tasks for them. Others want to do them together, so they stay involved and build confidence. Either way, you're in charge of how your home is run.

This support can also include help with shopping, errands and getting to appointments, so the everyday things don't pile up.

What it could look like

Priya has a support worker visit twice a week to help with cleaning and laundry. On Fridays they go grocery shopping together and cook a few meals for the week.

What we can help with

  • Washing, drying and folding clothes, and changing bed linen

Common questions about help around the home

Do you bring cleaning products?

Usually we use your products and equipment, so your home is cleaned the way you like it. We can talk about this when we plan your support.

Can you help with gardening or big jobs?

Ask us. Light tasks may be possible, but some jobs, like heavy gardening or repairs, may need a different service.

Is this the same as life skills?

Not quite. Help around the home means we help with or do the tasks. Learning life skills is about teaching you to do them yourself.

How do I get started?
